JSC „VILKONDA“ - modern solutions and respect to the traditions

With you since 1991 years

The history of company „Vilkonda“ begins in 1991 year. Exactly then the first company, which is specializing in a producing of parquet after the restoration of independence of Lithuania, was founded in derelicted industrial buidings on the outskirts of Vilnius. The first parquet was produced from the wood of birch, which was railed from the place of Russia, which is called Konda. The name of company arose, when the shortenings of Vilnius and Konda towns were joined.

And now, when more than 19 years have passed, we can bravely say that „Vilkonda“ is one of the leading companies in Lithuania, which is specializing in wooden and laminated floors range. The company has significantly expanded  since initial activity of parquet producing. But the conception of the company‘s activity never has been varied – all the time we have been strictly specialized in the range of wooden and laminated floors.

If it is interesting, we invite you to familiarize with the most important moments of „Vilkonda‘s“ growth:

• 1992 year – the production of solid parquet from Lithuanian wood – ash and oak – has been started.
• 1997-1998 years – the search and trials of quality and specialized materials for the installation of wooden floors. At that time universal and harmful products from Soviet times, characterized with poor quality, were still used.
• 1998 year – JSC „Vilkonda“ becomes only one authorized representative in Lithuania of Swedish company „BONA“, which creates and produces the products for wooden floors. At the same year we are the first in Lithuania, who begin to use and systematically popularize waterborne polyurethane finishes and specialized parquet adhesives for wooden floors. It was difficult, interesting and responsible goal, because new products costed approximately 5 times more than analogues in the market, but they were quality and more comfortable to work with.
• 1999 year – the trainings and seminars for parquet layers were started to organize in order to popularize new technologies and products in the range of wooden floors.
• 2002 year – the rent of sanding machines had been started.
• 2002-2003 year – the network of distributors, which distribute „BONA“ adhesives, finishes, sanding machines and materials, was created and developed; the seminars and and traings were organized.
• 2003 year – the first in Lithuania specialized internet website about wooden floors – www.parquet.lt – is prepared and begins to work. There are published all descriptions of products, which are necessary for installation of wooden floors, photos, instructions, technologies, pricelists in 3 languages (Lithuanian, English and Russian).
• 2004 year – the new warehouses with microclimate control (regulating temperature and air moisture) have been equipped. At one time it is possible to store up to 20000 m² of wooden floors.
• 2004 year – the new stage of company development has begun, and it is oriented to retail sale of wooden floors. In the centre of Vilnius, in the premises of the hotel „Reval Hotel Lietuva“ the new specialized showroom of wooden floors „Vilniaus Parketas“ is opened. Also wooden floors, which is not produced by „Vilkonda“ are begun to import: three-layered parquet boards from Finland, solid boards of exotic wood from China and Brazil. At the same year the services of wooden floors‘ installation, restoration and maintenance were begun to offer for customers.
• 2005-2006 year. The efforts of company received an appreciation between foreign suppliers and partners. JSC „Vilkonda“ becomes the representative of these brands in Lithuania:
  The exclusive authorized representative of Finnish company „Parla Floor“, which produces three-layered parquet boards;
  The exclusive authorized representative in Lithuania of „Universal Flooring“ company, which produces three-layered parquet boards in Malaysia;
  The representative in Lithuania of Italian company „Pedross“, which produces veneered skirtings and profiles.
• 2006 year – the registration of the brand „Vilniaus parketas, which belongs to JSC „Vilkonda“, is completely finished.
• 2007 year – the production of Germany company „Küberit“ is begun to distribute – metal decorating profiles and trims for different floor coverings.
• 2008 year – Germany company „Röber Clear Style“ gives to JSC „Vilkonda“ exclusive rights to distribute protecting mats for the floors, of their production, in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Belarus and the region of Kaliningrad. And the companies „BONA“, „Parla Floor“ and „Universal Flooring“ give exclusive rights to distribute their production in Latvia.
• 2008 year – the second specialized showroom of wooden floors „Vilniaus Parketas“ is opened in Ulonų str. 3, Vilnius and the network of distributors in Latvia and Belarus is started to form.
• 2009 year – despite of the most difficult economical crisis after Independent restoration and drastically slumped construction sector, the new and the biggest in Baltic States specialized showroom of wooden and laminated floors is opened by adress Ukmergės str. 369A, Vilnius. The area of exposition of this „Vilniaus Parketas“ showroom reaches 700 sq. meters, and the quantity of exposed floors exceeds 300 types.
• 2009 year – besides already exsisting „Vilniaus Parketas“ brand, the new brand „Grindų turgus“ is created and registered. The different sale conception is created. The showrooms, which is marked with „Vilniaus Parketas“ brand offer to the customer more services, it is possible to choose the floor from wide range of different prices. The sale places, which is marked with „Grindų Turgus“ brand are intended for those, who wants to buy cheaper, but quality products.
• 2009 year – the retail shop „Grindų Turgus“ is opened in Kaunas by address Pramonės str. 46A. Also the first specialized internet shop of wooden and laminated floors in Lithuania www.grinduturgus.lt is opened, where it is possible to buy the floors twenty-four-hour and they are delivered in whole Lithuania.
• 2009 year – Germany company „Kronoflooring“ gives to JSC „Vilkonda“ exclusive rights in Lithuania to sell laminated floors with EuroHome brand.
• 2010 year – one more shop „Grindų Turgus" is opened, which is adressed in Minijos str. 42, Klaipėda.
