Throughout the world, BONA sets the standard for installation and maintenance of wooden floors
What is BONA?
BONA is an international company, which has been creating and manufacturing products for wooden floors for almost 100 years. BONA distinguishes itself from a large number of manufacturers by its determination to focus exclusively on wooden floors. Everything what BONA makes is for wooden floors. The goal of BONA is to manufacture and sale the best products and solutions for wooden and cork floors installation and covering in all over the world.
It all started from coffee…
The history of BONA started in 1894 in Sweden, when a 26-year-old Wilhelm Edner has opened a grocery store in Malmö, where he was selling coffee. The store had parquet floors, which over time wear down. This prompted Wilhelm to look for a way to protect the floors. This is how floor wax was created – absolutely new product in the market of Sweden. In 1910 Wilhelm Edner started selling it.
The wax was in great demand; therefore, in 1919, he registered a company by the name of BONA AB, which consistently started expanding the assortment of floor maintenance materials. With time, floor installation materials had been added to its assortment.
In 1943, Bona created its first parquet finish and in 1979, it created first waterborne parquet finish in the world, which almost did not change the colour of wooden floors.
In 1953, BONA opened its first subsidiary in Germany. This gave way to further expansion of the company. In 1981, the production of UV finishes was launched.
In 1987- 2000, Bona established subsidiaries in USA (BonaKemi USA Inc.) and Singapore (BonaKemi Asia, Pacific Pte Ltd.). In 2001-2002, the demand for Bona products was constantly growing and this enabled the company to open two new plants in Sweden and purchase the plant in USA. In 2004, BONA established two subsidiaries in Panama and Shanghai. In 2006 there were opened other two new factories – one in USA and another in China.
In 2000, BONA started manufacturing of new generation parquet polishing machines and created a new 8300 series of antistatic abrasives, which were made from zirconium, one of the hardest materials found in the world. In 2005, BONA introduced to the market a new vacuum dust container, which allowed you to carry out sanding works in any premises almost dust free. Also Bona Sportive System – system, which consists of paints, finishes and cleaner and it is designed especially for sports halls. In 2007 BONA began to trade absolutely new product for the wooden floors covering – Bona Naturale. This coating product combines the best from finish and oil, and is designed for those who want to have covered, but absolutely naturally looking floors.
Keeping up with time
Now BONA is a constantly growing company. It has subsidiaries in 23 countries of the world and distributors in 52 countries. Thus, BONA distributes its production in 75 different countries.
